SMS and calls on a rented number
Read incoming SMS, send messages, and see what each message and call costs from your rental balance.
Short answer
Rented numbers receive SMS in your dashboard, and numbers that support it can send SMS and make calls. Outgoing SMS and calls are billed from your rental balance.
Step-by-step guide
- 1Open My rented numbers and select the number.
- 2Messages are grouped by contact. Search your contacts, or add one to start a new conversation.
- 3New messages appear on their own while the page is open, and the menu shows how many are unread.
- 4To send an SMS, open a conversation and write your message. It is charged to your rental balance.
- 5See your usage and charges for the number on its page.
Important notes
Not every number can send SMS or make calls; this depends on the country and number type.
Outgoing SMS and calls stop while a renewal payment has failed.
